mmhmm... dessert from Gladstone Hotel
mmhmm… dessert from Gladstone Hotel

Went out for dinner with Ori tonight. We tried out the Harvest Wednesday at the Gladstone Hotel. This was our menu. I had the alternative to the pork en gelee… something with almonds and mushroom patte. The almond was REALLY good. The tomato soup was incredibly tomato and just very homey. The vegetarian main was the Harvest Corn Polenta Cakes. By this time, we were both pretty full, but we (mostly) finished the polenta cake anyways. The way it was presented was very appetizing and definitely engaged the audience. All the veggies were grilled to perfection, even the eggplant. Eggplants aren’t really a Sally food… but damn! these eggplants were yummy! Pictured above was the Apple Galette. So delicious. The tart was warm and it was very cinnamon-y. Mmhmm… if only I could go back in time and eat some more! =]

Getting ready for some house hunting!
Getting ready for some house hunting in waterloo! I emailed a couple more people from the UW Off Campus Housing board. It’s my last term in school, so I definitely want to find a nice, clean, close to school(s) place to live in… and that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. *cough*$520 per month apartments on Lester*cough*

First shelf up: The Lerberg!
First shelf: The Lerberg!

How exciting is that? My first Ikea shelf as part of my room renovation. I’m talking about the far right shelf. It’s made of metal. Project Reno part I accomplished!

PS. If you look closely, you can see Meemo swimming happily towards the shelf!

Dim summing at Richmond Court
Dim summing at Richmond Court

It wasn’t really dim summing in the traditional sense, but Richmond Court had some dim sum dishes. They aren’t famous for their dim sum, and there’s a reason why. Everything was OK. It wasn’t the worst and certainly not the best.

Even though this food event was with family, I opted out of their dim sum-ness and went ahead with their breakfast – congee and stir fried noodles. Which wasn’t that bad. meh

Hm. Richmond Court = mediocre everything

a typical lunch
A typical lunch

Here’s what I usually bring to work for lunch, if I’m not eating leftovers. Just a simple mixed green salad with fake chicken breast and cucumbers, topper off with some cherry tomatoes. Mmhmm… delish! =]

Popcorn on the Cob!
Popcorn on the Cob!

The one I bought wasn’t this kind… but it’s the best that I can get!

I got it for Derek as a souvenir from Boston. We tried it tonight… and it wasn’t that bad! It was bland (since there wasn’t any particular flavouring) but it had the smell of air-pop popcorn.

Obviously, one corn wasn’t enough… so we made the store-bought kind as we watched the premiere of How I Met Your Mother on the computer… we missed the actual TV premiere by about an hour. fail.
